Comfort Chiang Mai to Luang Prabang Connect & Stay

Day 1: Chiang Mai to Chiang Khong

Be ready in the morning in the lobby of your hotel to meet your driver and then head out of Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai province. Chiang Rai is Thailand's northernmost province, and we'll make a quick stop along the way so you can visit one of Thailand's most famous temples, Wat Rong Khun, better known as the White Temple. A rather unique Buddhist temple, take your time to explore and see one artist's remarkable (and ongoing) project. We'll then head towards the Mekong River that divides Thailand and Laos, stopping at some hot springs along the way. When we reach our final destination for today, the river city of Chiang Khong, check in at your hotel, have dinner and the rest of the day is at leisure.

Day 2: Chiang Khong to Pak Beng

Enjoy an early breakfast and then meet your driver in the lobby for a quick trip to the border crossing between Thailand and Laos. Once you've cleared Thai immigration, you'll board a bus to cross the bridge over the Mekong to reach Laos immigration. Note that there is a small fee for the bus at your own expense. Once you've cleared Laos immigration, our guide with a sign at the Houay Xay immigration office (Lao border) and guests will take a sharing transfer (minivan) to the slow boat pier to embark on the boat. During the morning, Quick lecture about Do’s and Don’ts in Laos and fun facts will be presented by our guide.

Lao traditional Lunch set is served on board. After lunch, we will prepare a short cooking class experience and teach our passengers how to make local dessert: KhaoTom muk Khouay (Banana with coconut milk and sticky rice rolled in a banana leaf). Before reaching Pakbeng, we will stop to visit a local village (Ban Pak Sith), a tiny cozy place which hosts about 60 families. Travelers will learn about rural lifestyle and how to make Local Rice alcohol in a very remote area.

The boat will arrive at Pakbeng before night.

Day 3: Pak Beng to Luang Prabang

The boat will leave Pak Beng at 08:00 am. Enjoy the beautiful nature and jungle during your journey. In the morning, our guide and cook will make a short demonstration on how to make local homemade drinks made with butterfly pie flowers and lemon. A Lao traditional Lunch set is served on board. After lunch, the boat will stop at the Pak Ou Caves (Tham Ting) and its over two thousand Buddha statues. It is one of the most important Pilgrimage places for lao people.

The boat will arrive in Luang Prabang before 4:30 pm.
