Restored in 1970 with the help of UNESCO, the temple consists of six square platforms topped by three circular platforms. It is decorated with no less than 2,672 relief panels and has 504 Buddha statues of varying types. The main dome sits in the centre of the top platform and is surrounded by 72 stupas, each containing a Buddha statue. Only when visiting in person will you get a true appreciation of its immensity and stunning design, a highly recommended stop for anyone going through Java.

** For Borobudur Temple - Please note:
Climbing up the temple has been restricted for only 150 foreigner tourists per hourly slot. Please do note that all climbs to the Borobudur are non-guaranteed and climbing on Mondays is not possible. Unfortunately, due to the regularly changing regulations and slots available, the climb tickets can only be booked at current 7 days in advance. If the trip includes the entrance fees, Happy Trails will automatically attempt to book the climbing slot once available (as the window of booking changes regularly). However, the climb is NOT guaranteed at the time of booking the trip.
