Remember, this is only a route proposal for your big trip. If you wish to receive personal assistance designing your road trip, please get in contact with our adventurous travel experts. They love designing dream trips and they give you great insider travel advice. Oh, and one last thing. When on a road trip, you really don't want to travel without a good travel insurance. Let us know if you need help with that!
Arrive in Miami where this road trip itinerary begins! We've arranged the first 3 nights in a cool hostel located on Miami Beach. The best place to kickstart this adventure! Make sure you check out Little Havana and get a Cuban coffee, Little Haiti for it's Caribbean vibes and Wynwood with all it's cool, colorful street art.
After your 3 days in Miami it's time to pack your car and start exploring Florida. First stop is Key West, which is connected with no less than 42 bridges. Here you'll get a great view of both the Mexican Gulf and the Atlantic Ocean when you drive southwards from Miami. Key West is famous for the nice beaches and some amazing sunsets. If you stop in Key Largo on the way to Key West, you'll get a chance to enjoy possibly the best snorkeling area in the entire country.
Everglades National Park is the biggest national park with subtropical climate in the US. The nature and wildlife is amazing, and you'll be able to spot everything from colorful frogs and flamingos to both crocodiles and aligators! If you're intrigued by the latter, make sure you have time to do a boat ride in the swamps - here you'll see MANY aligators!
From Everglades you travel along Florida's west coast and the first stop here is Naples, which is also known as the city of millionaires. A big portion of USA's richest people live here, so if you're a sucker for fancy cars and huge villas, you can look forward to strolling around the streets of this city. If you pay a visit to the old part of the city, you'll find many art galleries and charming small shops.
From Napels you move up the west coast of Florida until you reach Sarasota. A nice and cozy place by the beach. Myakka River State Park is worth a visit. This park protects one of the state's most diverse natural areas. You'll find Siesta Key only a short drive south of Sarasota, and this is probably the best place for surfing in the entire Florida state. Enjoy the great vibes and the small surf shops and bars.
Tampa is located in Tampa Bay and is a historic harbor city. There's plenty of outdoor life and lots of cool cultural events going on. We recommend that you pay a visit to Clearwater which hosts a lot of cool festivals. Strawberry Festival and The Hispanic Heritage Festival are among the better ones! If you have time, then check out St. Petersburg peninsular where you'll find the Salvador Dali museum as well as some cool art exhibitions.
Orlando... The city with all the amusement parks. For example Disney World and Universal Studios. If you want to experience something different, you can visit Holy Land, which is a park with, as the name implies, a biblical theme. Or you can choose to chill in the city for a few days before moving on.
From Orlando hit the road and drive to Cape Canaveral on the east coast of Florida. Here you'll get a chance to see one of the four SpaceX rocket launching sites - The Kennedy Space Center. No matter how much you're into spacecrafts this place is truly special and a must see.
Continue a bit further south until you arrive in Fort Lauerdale. This place is famous for it's beautiful beaches, art scene, big events and of course for being a hub for many huge cruiseships. Go shopping on Las Olas Boulevard, go for a sailing trip or take a cozy stroll along the harborfront where you will spot lots of huge yachts.
Your road trip ends where it all started, back in Miami. You'll get a chance to explore all the things you didn't have time to when you arrived here. Check out the cool Art Deco-district at South Beach and visit the Venetian Pool which is home to both corals and undersea caves.
Whether you want to go home or continue your journey is up to you. Just let us know what you prefer, and we will make it happen!
