Big 5 Marine & Whale Watching Boat Trip

About the tours:

There are two tours available, depending on the seasons.

Marine Big 5 Trip (01JAN22 - 31MAY22)
- Morning trips: Coffee, tea and muffins on arrival and a light lunch after the trip
- Afternoon trips: Light lunch before the trip followed by soup and bread after the trip
- Visit to the African Penguin & Seabird Sanctuary
- Stopover in Hermanus on return trip to Cape Town
- Possibility to see resident Bryde’s whales or Humpback whales, Sharks, Dolphins, Seals, Penguins and a variety of other seabirds.

Marine Big 5 Southern Right Whale Season (01JUN22 - 31DEC22)
- All trips: Coffee, tea and muffins served on arrival followed by warm soup and bread after the trip
- Visit to the African Penguin & Seabird Sanctuary
- Possibility to see Southern Right whales, resident Bryde’s whales or Humpback whales, Sharks, Dolphins, Seals, Penguins and a variety of other seabirds.

Free Penguin Visit
All guests are welcome to visit our African Penguin & Seabird Sanctuary at no extra charge.

Location and time:

Kleinbaai Harbour, Gansbaai

Transportation to the location is included, and You will be informed of collection time from your accommodation the day before the activity - it can be as early as 05:00 depending on the weather conditions.

Time as per availability
Operates on a daily basis, weather permitting between 09:30 and 15:30.
Activity takes a total of 45 min - 1 hour

Bad weather may affect our operation status.

What to bring:

- Always bring warm clothing as it is cooler at sea than on land.
- Comfortable shoes or takkies
- A camera, sunscreen and a hat/cap in summer or a beanie in winter.
- Binoculars, camera

***We highly recommend guests who are prone to any kind of motion sickness (or are unsure if they are) to use anti-nausea medication well in advance. Better to be prepared!
