Itinerary

Spirit of Everest: Sherpas and Monasteries Tea House Trek

Day 1: Kathmandu to Patale

After meeting at Go Beyond Nepal Office located next to Kathmandu Guesthouse by 05:30 am,We will take you an early drive from Kathmandu through Sindhuli highway following magnificent Sunkoshi River, terrace fields and villages. While driving, you could already enjoy Mountain View of Everest region.

The mixed village of Patale will be our first overnight place, most of the village is Sherpa. On your very first day, the village of Patale welcomes you with the magnificent view of Mt. Everest. Spend your free time walking around to explore the village and admire the beautiful view.

Day 2: Patale to Jhapre (trekking time about 5-6 hours)

Continue the journey by following the mountain ridge with a magnificent view over Everest region. Today, you will enjoy the gentle walk-through rhododendron and pine forest with magnificent view over the valleys. Enjoy the view and explore Jhapre, a small Sherpa village with old monastery.

Day 3: Jhapre to Base Camp (trekking time 5-6 hours)

The day begins with a gradual uphill walk-through pine and rhododendron forest, enjoy both sides valley view and the view of Mera peak range. Today, we had a steep climb waiting for us before reaching the basecamp. You will be able to see the view of Pikey Peak, which we are going to climb the next day in close distance.

Day 4: Jhapre to June Bensi (trekking time 7-8 hours)

Today is the longest day of our trek. The day begins early with an uphill walk to the top for about 2 hours to see the sunrise and majestic mountain views. From there, you'll get to see the magnificent view over the Everest region with many mountains including Everest, Lhotse, Kanchanjunga, Makalu, Nuptse, Numbur, Thamserku, Mera peak and many more.

After capturing the beautiful view, we will be taking a steep downhill trail to Jarse Bhangyang. From here, we have gradual uphill for about 2 hours and steep downhill walk-through dense forest to Jun Bensi, which is a big Sherpa village with monastery and Hillary school.

Day 5: June Bensi

Today, we will explore the Sherpa village of June Bensi and visit the Tashithongmen monastery. From June Bensi, there'll be a gradual walk of about 1 hour to Thuptincholing monastery. The Thuptincholing is a big monastery filled with over 900 monks and nuns, it's surrounded by lots of colorful praying flags and refugee camp.

From here you will have enough time to drink some tea and have a chat with the monks/nuns. We will be visiting the Phungmoche monastery before heading back to June Bensi to spend the night.

Day 6: June Bensi to Takshindu (trekking time 6-7 hours)

A gradual 2 hour walk from June bensi takes us to the viewpoint which offers excellent views of Everest, Thamserku, and Mera. Passing the Salung village we arrive at another Sherpa village of Ringmu from there we continue steep uphill walk to the pass of Taksindu la (at 3,071 m), then walking a little descend to Takshindu.

Day 7: Takshindu to Phaplu  (trekking time 5-6 hours)

Visit Takshindula monastery in the morning and follow the dense forest up to Ratnange. Then we'll continue walking steep downhill to the town of Phaplu. Phaplu is a small mountainous town in the north-east with fabulous scenery of the village and region. From here, you can see the view of Mt. Numbur right in front of you.

Day 8: Phaplu to Kathmandu

Early in the morning, we will take a long drive through marvelous scenery back to Kathmandu.
