9 Days Salt, Sand & Solitude: A Palawan Experience

Day 1: Arrival in Puerto Princesa - Mojo Hostel

Welcome to Palawan! Check in to Mojo Hostel for your overnight stay. This day is set aside for you to rest and prepare for the early morning transfer to Balabac the following day. We suggest you spend the day buying a few supplies for the trip and make sure to charge your powerbank and other gadgets.

Day 2: Puerto Princesa to Balabac Expedition Begins

Rise early for your 03:00 pick-up directly in front of Mojo Hostel. You’ll embark on a 5 to 6-hours drive to Buliluyan Port, with stopovers along the way. Upon arrival, you'll board a boat bound for Bancalaan Island for clearance, then continue to the campsite, where your Balabac adventure begins. After dropping off your luggage, enjoy island hopping before returning for dinner and overnight in basic island camping accommodation (tents or native huts).

Day 3: Island Hopping in Balabac

Spend the day discovering the white-sand beaches and turquoise waters of Balabac. Highlights include a full-day tour of Onok Island, a snorkeling experience either near Nasubata Reef or in front of Candaraman Island, and a relaxing dinner back at the Canibungan campsite.

Day 4: Last day in Balabac

Begin your final day in Balabac with a sunrise breakfast, then explore Starfish Sandbar, Candaraman Island, and Manta Sandbar. Return to the campsite in the afternoon to rest and enjoy your last dinner under the stars.

Day 5: Return to Puerto Princesa - Mojo Hostel Stay

After breakfast and packing up at the campsite, begin your journey back to Puerto Princesa. You’ll leave Canibungan Island by boat, pass through Buliluyan Port, and continue by van. Expect to arrive in the evening, where you'll check in again at Mojo Hostel. Enjoy a relaxing night in the city—feel free to explore the nearby restaurants or simply unwind.

Day 6: Transfer to Port Barton - Check-in at My Green Hostel

After breakfast at Mojo Hostel, you'll be transferred via shared air-conditioned minivan (approximately 3–4 hours) to the laid-back coastal town of Port Barton. Upon arrival, check in at My Green Hostel, a sustainable, beachside retreat popular among backpackers for its relaxed atmosphere and natural surroundings.

Day 7: Island Hopping in Port Barton

Set off on a full-day island hopping adventure through the Port Barton Marine Park, starting at 09:00 and returning around 16:00. Cruise across turquoise waters to postcard-perfect islands and snorkeling spots. Swim with sea turtles and colorful reef fish at Twin Reef and Fantastic Reef.

Day 8: Free Day in Port Barton

Take it slow. Relax in a hammock, book a massage, or join an optional jungle trek or paddleboarding tour (not included). Overnight at My Green Hostel.

Day 9: Departure from Port Barton

Check-out and end of services. Optional onward transfers to El Nido, Puerto Princesa, or back to Manila can be arranged (not included).

Please note:

The weather permits that you can travel to Balabac throughout all 12 months of the year. Good weather is never guaranteed, but as a guideline, Balabac and Palawan has two seasons. The "Dry" and the "Wet" with the dry season running more or less from November to May and the wet from June to October. During wet season we see more rain, rougher seas and it is more likely that some areas is impossible to reach on the tour.
