Get active and support physical education abroad

If you're an energetic individual eager to work with children and youth abroad, join a sports development volunteer project with KILROY. You'll have the opportunity to play and coach a variety of sports while assisting with curricular activity for disadvantaged communities.

Work alongside local staff to help teach young children and teens valuable life lessons through adventure activities, teamwork, educational classes and sports. Whether you're new to sports development or P.E. or already have a qualification, our volunteer projects are the perfect opportunity for you to develop your knowledge and skills while getting to know a new culture and part of the world.

Accommodation, meals and arrival transfers are included in each of our projects, and activities are often an added bonus to help you make the most of your time in your chosen destination.

What to expect from a sports development volunteer project

Our sports development projects are perfect for active, energetic and passionate volunteers who want to promote the benefits of physical education while gaining hands-on experience leading and managing sports-related games and activities.

Depending on your interest and skills, you will have the opportunity to play and coach a variety of sports at local sports centres, including ball games, obstacle courses, tricycle riding, swimming lessons, surfing and skateboarding.

You'll help children and teens develop hand-eye coordination, teamwork skills, discipline and basic life and hygiene skills through sports.

Our projects facilitate children from severely disadvantaged areas and you'll be encouraged to get as involved as possible in organising fun-filled events that bring so much joy to children.

Sports development gap year

If you want to spend time assisting with sports development on your gap year, these projects are a great choice. These projects require a minimum commitment of two weeks, but you can spend up to 12 weeks helping to introduce sports to children and teens (depending on the destination).

Want to spend longer volunteering in sports development during your gap year? Reach out to our team and we can make suitable arrangements. As gap year specialists, we can also combine your volunteer project with group tours and other travel experiences to help you make the most of your time abroad.
