The Hi5 Camper is the biggest in the Travellers Autibarn fleet. It's still a compact vehicle and ideal for groups up to 4-5 or families with small children who would like to travel New Zealand.

Compact campervans like this which are taller (you can actually stand in it), roomier and full of features, can be very rare for backpackers and budget travellers looking to travel the North and South Island on their own pace.

The Hi5 Campervan can accommodate the following groups:

  • 4 mature adults; or
  • 5 young adults; or
  • 2 adults and 3 small children

The Hi5 campervan comes with a large fridge, a microwave, sink and gas stove. Fully equipped for travelling and living comfortably in the New Zealand outdoors, the city, or just down at the beach. The Hi5 has a 2018-2019 interior Fit-Out.

If you are 4/5 people with lots of luggage in the Hi5 camper, we do not recommend this vehicle – luggage space is limited!

Please note. The high season for campervan rental in New Zealand runs from mid November to late February. The earlier you book, the cheaper. As availability goes down, the campervans become more expensive. So don't wait too long to book your New Zealand adventure!

Driving and sleeping

The Hi5 is a compact, yet spacious vehicle and simple to drive. It features power steering and an automatic transmission. If you are not familiar with the steering wheel to the right and driving in the left side of the road, don't worry, it will only take you a short while to get comfortable.

The front cabin seats 3 people and the back cabin seats 2 people. Up to 5 people can sit comfortably and enjoy a nice campervan dinner. Under the bunks you have limited space for luggage.

There are two double beds in this campervan. Both beds are 126 cm wide. During the day both beds folds away and a table pops up in the center. Read more

Kitchen facilities

The Hi5 includes a living space with build-in kitchenette in the back of the van. Here you will find a sink with electrical pump, microwave, 2 burner gas stove and the fridge. Cooking utensils such as cutlery and crockery are practically stored in drawers and cabinets. Read more

It is possible to book one-way rentals between the two rental centres in New Zealand. A one-way rental fee applies (NZD $100-400). Read more

The rental price varies according to demand and season. You'll get the lowest price if you book your Hi5 campervan well in advance when availability is high.
