The museum of the 2nd World War is a very exciting and authentic museum that gives you a special insight into the war and how some areas of Poland were before and after it started. The museum gives you a real insight into how much damage the war cost the country and the population. You can for example see a real street from Poland before the war and in another exhibition how it looked after the war. You can also see an apartment from 3 different time periods, 1939, 1943 and 1945 – You will experience how the interior and food supplies changes through time and see how the family living there is upgrading the apartment to help others to get though the war as well. Follow the timeline though the museum and see the war with Polish eyes. The building is very pointedly divided into three spheres which reflect the connection between the past, the present and the future. The architectural conception assumes that the evil of the war is hidden under the ground and the ‘light’ of hope reaches within through a crack that runs along the square. Experience a 3-floor underground museum about the history with exhibitions, pictures, videos and stories as well. Expect to spend approx. 3-4 hours at the museum.
