The exclusive town of Zakopane is located at an altitude of 800 to 1000 m above sea level, south-west of Cracow. It lies at the foot of the Tatras in a beautiful area. Each year, about two million tourists flock to this town to enjoy the very beautiful nature and the great skiing possibilities in the winter. In Zakopane you can still experience the old highland culture, such as very old wooden houses, the booths in the streets and the market square. You will meet local people selling sheepskin, woollen pullovers, smoked sheep cheese, and many other local goods. The old parish church of the city, the main street and the local market are some of the attractions that the English speaking guide will show you. You can take a ride on the cable car to the top of the Gublówka Mountains to enjoy a fantastic view of the whole area. The guide will meet you at the hotel and accompany you on the bus to Zakopane. Along the way you will learn more about Cracow and Zakopane. Please note that you will need a special permission to walk in the mountains as it is a national park. This must be booked at least 3 months before.
