Remuh Synagogue is the only active synagogue in Krakow and is situated in the old Jewish Kraków district, Kazimierz. It is the second oldest synagogue in Kraków. The construction of the synagogue started in 1558 and it has since been rebuilt many times. Unfortunately, the synagogue was very damaged during WWII but was restored and reopened for the believers after the war. The oldest parts of paintings found on the northern wall of the prayer hall date back to the 17th century. The synagogue and the adjoining cemetery form a unique and priceless complex of Jewish architecture and religious art dating back to the 16th century.
