The Nowa Huta Museum is located in a former cinema building Nowa Huta a part of Krakow. In its research, exhibition and educational activities, the museum combines the idea of a local museum (focusing on Nowa Huta) with being a place where people can find stories and get a wider perspective of the experience of the Cold War and socialism. Apart from temporary exhibitions you can visit the air raid shelter under the building with the exhibition ‘Nuclear Threat'. The second location of the museum is Nowa Huta Underground at Szkolne Estate, which houses an air raid shelter and the the exhibition ‘State of Emergency’. You can combine a visit to Nowa Huta Museum and Nowa Huta Underground with a themed walk around Nowa Huta about its unique urban layout and socialist architecture.
