Want to combine some of the world's best beaches and amazing cultural sights with lush jungle and amazing wildlife? Well, then this itinerary in Mexico and Costa Rica might be just the right combination for you!

You start out in one of the biggest cities in the World, Mexico City. Absorb the surroundings and get ready for an 8-day adventure through Central Mexico until you reach beautiful Puerto Escondido where you'll spend a week hitting the waves and learning to surf!

You'll move from big city vibes to the classic Latino laid-back atmosphere. Expect sand in the sandals, cocktails by the beach, waves striking the shore gently and delicious authentic tacos for lunch. Mexico certainly has it all.

Head towards Cancun and explore both Yucutan and Quintana Roo on your own. Here there are beaches en masse, beautiful Mayan ruins and cenotes (natural deep-water wells) almost everywhere you go.

From Cancun you fly to San José where you'll go on an 11-day adventure with other backpackers. Check out all the cool spots in Costa Rica before you end by the beach in Santa Teresa, perfect if you're into surfing.

Stay here for as long as you like, before heading back to San José and fly home. Or onwards. It's up to you really.

Mexico City to Puerto Escondido 8-day adventure tour

Arrive in Mexico City after a long flight. Kick your legs up, and get ready to start your adventure the next day. You'll join like-minded backpackers on an 8-day trip through Central Mexico where you'll explore Puebla and Oaxaca before touching down in beautiful Puerto Escondido.

Learn Spanish and surf Puerto Escondido, Mexico

We've booked you in to an 8-day surf camp where you'll learn to surf like a pro! Never tried it before? No worries. We work with a really cool company providing only the best surf instructors, so you'll be up on that board in no time.

You live in a surf camp and the vibe here is so chill. And the best part? You'll either get to learn Spanish from scratch or brush up on it if you're somewhat able to speak it. This camp combines both Spanish and surfing - perfect for the rest of your trip. After 8 days, you'll catch a flight to Cancun.

Explore Yucutan & Quintana Roo Time on your own

You arrive in Cancun, and what's next is entirely up to you. We recommend that you spend at least two weeks exploring the regions of Yucutan and Quintana Roo, preferably more time if you can squeeze it in.

There's a ton of things to see, and we're not just talking about the stunning beaches. Take some trips inland and discover old Mayan ruins or pay a visit to one of the countless cenotes, which are small natural deep-water wells, perfect for a dip when it gets too hot. Once you're ready to move on, it's time to explore Costa Rica.

Experience the best of Costa Rica San José to Tamarindo

You land in San José, the capital of Costa Rica. Here you'll meet up with another cool group of backpackers, who will join you for the next 11 days, where you'll roam around Costa Rica exploring everything that's worth exploring.

If you're into adventure, you can look forward to both Monteverde and La Fortuna, where you'll experience the lush jungles and a ton of cool adrenaline pumping activities. Your trip ends in Tamarindo, where you'll find your own way to Santa Teresa.

Surf's up... Again! Santa Teresa, Costa Rica

Santa Teresa is one of those small picturesque towns by the beach where life passes by extremely slow. Visit The Bakery (yes, that is the name) for a nice breakfast, and show off you're newly acquired surf skills when the breaks allows for it here.

Santa Teresa is a place loved by surfers from all over the world, and you'll quickly discover why. At some point, unfortunately, everything good comes to an end and you'll find your way back to San José where you can catch your flight back home. If you want, that is. If you want to continue your trip, just let us know, and we'll sort it for you.
