Destination #1 Tokyo, Japan

Welcome to Asia! And there's no better introduction than the vibrant city of Tokyo. Here you can enjoy a coffee in a cat cafe one minute then watch a traditional sumo wrestling match the next. It's true that Tokyo could keep you busy for days. But while you're here, get out and explore more of the country.

The network of bullet trains make it quick and easy to get around Japan, so head west for the chance to see the notoriously shy Mt. Fuji, explore the temples and bamboo gardens of Kyoto and the stunning floating torii gates of Miyajima island.

Destination #2 Bangkok, Thailand

Bangkok is a city that offers everything a backpacker could wish for - fascinating culture, unique cuisine, pulsating nightlife and excellent shopping. But Thailand offers so much more beyond the capital city limits.

While you're here, head north to trek with the colourful hill tribes and learn to cook in Chiang Mai. Or head south for a spot of island hopping around Koh Tao, Koh Samui and Koh Phangan.

Destination #3 Brisbane, Australia

The capital of Queensland is the perfect place to start your adventure in Oz! Here you can enjoy spring-like weather even in the winter months. Plus, you can visit the world's first koala sanctuary, enjoy the sights of the CBD and beautiful nearby beaches.

Once you've had your fill of all that Brisbane has to offer, start your journey south along Australia's east coast to Melbourne. Along the way you can visit the iconic Byron Bay, Coffs Harbour and Port Macquarie before arriving in Sydney where you can't miss the famous Opera House and Harbour Bridge.

Between Sydney and Melbourne you can either take the inland route and spend some time trekking in the Blue Mountains. Or continue along the coast and enjoy the white beaches of Jervis Bay.

Destination #4 Melbourne, Australia

Ranked the world’s most livable city six years in a row, Melbourne has plenty to keep you entertained. It's a fantastic foodie destination with excellent coffee shops and cafes serving healthy and delicious brunches. It's home to excellent museums and art galleries. Plus, it's the sport capital of Australia, which means the perfect opportunity to watch a game of Aussie Rules.

If you've got the time, hire a car and head west from Melbourne to explore the Great Ocean Road and see the famous 12 Apostles before heading back home with a glitzy stopover on the way,

Destination #5 Dubai, UAE

Let's face it - the flight from Australia to the UK is a long one. So take a break from flying with a stopover in Dubai. It's the perfect stopover destination with every possible shopping opportunity you can think of. Plus, you can combine futuristic urban architecture with peaceful desert experiences. Crane your neck at the spectacular Burg Khalifa by day then spend the night in a luxury camp in the middle of sand dunes.
