The benefits of student and youth airfares

Many of the leading airlines offer special discount fares to full-time students and young travellers under the age of 26. These fares can offer great discounts and a range of benefits, which often include:

  • Flexibility - air tickets are often non-changeable and non-refundable. But most of our student and youth airfares give you the freedom to change your dates for a small fee, which is perfect if you're planning a round-the-world adventure and don't want to be tied down.
  • Long validity - our student and youth fares are usually valid for 12 months, giving you plenty of time to lose yourself on a desert island. If you're planning to stay longer, like on a working holiday visa, we can help you with one-way tickets to get you there and back.
  • Extra luggage allowance - we all know airlines love to hit you with extra charges, and baggage is no exception. But with some student and youth fares you get free extra baggage, so you can buy all the souvenirs you want on your gap year.
  • Stopovers - want to get the most out of your flight ticket? Take advantage of a free stopover, which is often another perk of student and youth fares, making it even easier to add a stop in Thailand on your way Down Under.
  • Multi-City & Round-the-World itineraries - if you're planning a big global adventure, our travel experts can put together flight itineraries that combine cost-effective routes with your bucket list destinations. Check out some suggested round-the-world flight itineraries if you're looking for inspiration.
  • Great prices - we'll get you a competitive price on your flights, often with these additional benefits included, making your journey even better value for money.

Need to know

You'll need an International Student Identity Card (ISIC) to prove your status as a student when booking student airfares. This card is available to full-time students at school, college or university with no upper age limit.

Not a student? Not a problem!

If you're under 30 years of age, you can get yourself an International Youth Travel Card (ITYC) instead. Both cards entitle you to discounts on shopping, entertainment, food and more, both at home and abroad.

Our travel advisors can sort you out with one of these cards. Or you can add one to your online flight booking directly on our website.
